Which phone takes the crown for best camera?
The mid-range smartphone market is heating up, with the Honor 200 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S24 FE both being viable contenders. While both boast impressive specs, how do their cameras really stack up? I put them through multiple tests, capturing photos and videos in various conditions to see which comes out on top.
Color and Consistency
Since Honor has the Vibrant mode set by default, I will stick to it for the comparison. Right off the bat, the Honor 200 Pro delivers punchier, more saturated colors, especially noticeable in the ultra-wide shots. This vibrant style might be appealing to some, but it sometimes feels a bit over-the-top. The Galaxy S24 FE, on the other hand, offers a more natural and consistent color profile across all its lenses.
Zoom Capabilities
Both phones pack a decent zoom, but the 200 Pro generally produces richer colors and sharper details at higher zoom levels. However, the S24 FE’s telephoto lens holds its own. Interestingly, I noticed some inconsistencies with the Honor’s zoom, where colors and brightness would shift between lenses, especially noticeable while switching between the ultra-wide and main lens.
Is the Honor 200 Pro the Portrait Master?
Honor calls the 200 Pro the ‘Portrait Master’. The Portrait mode was created in a collaboration with the famous french Studio Harcourt and it offers three destinct portrait styles to choose from.. It captures brighter, more vibrant portraits with excellent background separation. The S24 FE’s portrait mode is good, but it tends to blur the background differently, and I found the Honor 200 Pro produced more flattering results overall.
Low-Light Performance
When the lights go down, the Galaxy S24 FE takes the lead. It consistently captures brighter, more detailed low-light images, especially with its ultra-wide lens. The Honor 200 Pro struggles a bit in this department, with noticeable noise and color accuracy issues. Using the dedicated night mode unfortunately also doesn’t help the Honor to surpass the S24 FE in this regard.
The Verdict
Choosing a winner is tough! The Honor 200 Pro excels in portrait mode and delivers eye-catching colors, while the Galaxy S24 FE offers better low-light performance and a more consistent camera experience. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your individual needs and preferences.

Since some years, Samsung got the habit of releasing a so called ‘FE’ model of their top range smartphones and tablets and now it’s finally time for the S24 FE, and it’s comes with a tempting price tag. But can it truly hold a candle against its big brother, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, when it comes to pure camera performance? I put both phones through different tests to find out if the FE is a true flagship killer or just a good budget option.
First Impressions
The S24 Ultra boasts a stronger camera setup, but the FE isn’t far behind. While the FE lacks the Ultra’s dedicated 5x telephoto lens, it still packs a respectable 3x optical zoom.
Zooming In
- Ultra-wide: Both phones deliver similar results, with the FE sometimes showing slightly more vibrant colors. Neither is great at night though.
- Main Lens: A very close performance again, with minor differences in sharpness and brightness.
- 3x Zoom: The S24 Ultra has more details and better color accuracy.
- 5x and Beyond: The Ultra’s dedicated telephoto lens is the clear winner, capturing significantly sharper images at higher zoom levels.
Low-Light Showdown
In challenging lighting, the Ultra consistently captures brighter and more detailed images, especially with the ultra-wide lens. The FE holds its own up to 3x zoom but struggles at higher zoom levels.
Portrait Perfection?
Both phones produce great portraits with good background separation.
Video Verdict
Both phones capture high-quality video, but the Ultra offers more flexibility. It allows for lens switching while recording in 4K 60fps, a feature missing on the FE. Both have a portrait video mode too, which will help create cinematic videos.
The FE’s Achilles’ Heel
While the FE impresses in many areas, its digital zoom beyond 3x simply can’t compete with the Ultra’s optical superiority. If you’re a zoom enthusiast, the Ultra is the clear winner.
Is the FE Worth It?
Absolutely! For everyday photography, the S24 FE delivers very good image quality at a significantly lower price. It’s a fantastic choice for budget-conscious users who don’t need extreme zoom capabilities.

The epic battle between Apple and Samsung rages on!
Samsung vs Apple has been the battle in the smartphone world since over a decade. It doesn’t matter if one of them is the best on the market, but they still have their loyal fanbase that would pick them over anyone else. But with current flagship has the better camera?
Which one comes out on top in the camera department?
I put them both through their paces in a variety of tests, from portrait mode to night shots, to find out.
Daylight Photography:
- Ultrawide: Both phones deliver excellent ultrawide shots, with the iPhone edging out the S24 Ultra in brightness.
- Telephoto: The S24 Ultra’s telephoto lens consistently produced sharper images, especially at higher zoom levels. Its 100x zoom capabilities far surpass the iPhone’s 25x max zoom, but practically everything over 30x is not useful.
- Main Lens: The main lenses on both phones are neck and neck, capturing vibrant and detailed images.
- Portraits: Both phones excel at portraits, with the iPhone producing more natural background blur and the S24 Ultra offering more vibrant colors.
Night Photography:
- Low Light: The S24 Ultra generally performed better in low-light conditions, thanks to its dedicated night mode.
- Lens Flare: The iPhone struggled with lens flare in night shots, a recurring issue that Apple has yet to address.
- Night Mode: The S24 Ultra’s dedicated night mode helped it capture brighter and more detailed images in extremely dark environments.
Video Recording:
- Portrait Video: The S24 Ultra offers fun and unique effects in portrait video mode, but the iPhone’s Cinematic mode delivers better focus and overall quality.
- Action Mode: Both phones offer excellent stabilization, with the iPhone’s Action Mode and the S24 Ultra’s Super Steady mode keeping videos smooth and shake-free.
- Zoom: The S24 Ultra’s zoom capabilities shine in video recording, allowing for smooth transitions between lenses and impressive zoom levels.
The Verdict:
Both the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the Galaxy S24 Ultra are exceptional camera phones, but the S24 Ultra emerges as the slightly more versatile and capable shooter. Its superior telephoto lens, dedicated night mode, and fun portrait video effects give it an edge. However, the iPhone 16 Pro Max holds its own with excellent image quality, natural portrait mode, and overall better video quality.
Which phone is right for you? It ultimately depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you prioritize zoom capabilities and low-light performance, the S24 Ultra is the winner. But if you prefer a more streamlined camera experience with excellent overall quality, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is still a fantastic choice.
Interested in the phones?
Looking for an iPhone 16 Pro Max case that is as tough as it is stylish? I recently got my hands on some seriously impressive cases from Benks, and let me tell you, these aren’t your average flimsy covers. We’re talking about cases made with DuPont Kevlar and if that sounds familiar, it’s the same stuff they use in bulletproof vests!
Benks Armor Tint Case

First up is the Armor Tint case. This one’s all about minimalism. It’s super thin and sleek, adding barely any bulk to your phone. But don’t let that fool you – that Kevlar construction means it’s incredibly strong. The buttons are all easily accessible, and it’s MagSafe compatible, so charging is a breeze. Plus, the grip is fantastic.
Benks Aurora Armor Pro Case

Next, we have the Aurora Armor Pro. This case is inspired by the Northern Lights, and the design is seriously stunning. It offers all-around protection, with covered buttons and a raised lip around the screen. The texture is amazing, and the colors are subtle but eye-catching. And yes, it’s MagSafe compatible too!
Benks Dynamic Series Case

Finally, we have the Dynamic Series. This one’s a more classic TPU case, but still boasts great quality. It comes in a variety of cool designs, from cityscapes to mountain ranges. While it doesn’t have the Kevlar of the other two, it’s a more affordable option and still provides decent protection.
My Favorite:
Out of the three, I’m loving the Aurora Armor Pro. The design is just beautiful, and I like the extra protection of the covered buttons. But honestly, all three cases are great, and the best one for you will depend on your personal preferences.

I recently got my hands on the Baseus 100W Fast Charger, and I’ve been putting it through its paces. I wanted to see if it lived up to its claims of being a versatile and powerful charging solution, and I’m excited to share my findings.
The unboxing was a pleasant surprise. I found a sturdy cable and some fun stickers, which is always a nice touch. I actually somehow expected just 1 AC outlet, but it indeed had two. The charger itself has a really nice design, especially the non-slip base. It’s clear that Baseus put some thought into making it practical for everyday use.
I was particularly interested in seeing how it handled multiple devices, so I put it to the test. I plugged in my Pixel 9 Pro XL, my DJI Osmo Pocket 3, my Nintendo Switch, and even a YouTube light—all at the same time! I was impressed; it handled everything without breaking a sweat. And, yes, it easily charged my MacBook Pro too, which is a testament to its 100W power delivery.
One of the features that really stood out to me was the inclusion of two power outlets. This is incredibly useful for me, as my power outlets aren’t always in the most convenient places. Being able to plug in anything directly into the charger is a game-changer.
Overall, I’m really impressed with the Baseus 100W Fast Charger. It’s a powerful and versatile charging station that can handle just about anything you throw at it. If you’re looking for a reliable and convenient charging solution, I highly recommend checking it out.

The Honor 200 Pro presents an interesting mid-range alternative to the much pricier iPhone 16 Pro Max, especially for those prioritizing camera capabilities. We are talking here about a price difference of almost 1000€, depending on if you can get a great deal (saw the 200 Pro once for as low as 400€).
In this comparison, we’ll examine the strengths and weaknesses of each phone’s camera system to help you determine which device best suits your needs and budget.
Daylight Photography
- Colors: Since I am using the default vibrant mode, the Honor 200 Pro tends to produce more saturated colors, resulting in vibrant and eye-catching images. In contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro Max opts for more natural colors, which some users may find less striking. This difference in color processing is noticeable across all lenses.
- Zoom Capabilities: While the Honor 200 Pro’s zoom capabilities are not as advanced as the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 5x telephoto lens, it still delivers respectable results, particularly with its 2.5x telelens.
- Ultrawide Performance: Both phones perform well in ultrawide photography, capturing detailed and expansive shots. However, the Honor 200 Pro occasionally demonstrates superior overall image quality in this mode.
Low-Light Photography
- Image Quality: The iPhone 16 Pro Max generally performs better in low-light conditions, producing cleaner images with less noise compared to the auto-mode of the Honor 200 Pro. However, the Honor 200 Pro’s dedicated night mode helps it capture brighter images in challenging lighting situations.
- Noise Reduction: The iPhone 16 Pro Max exhibits superior noise reduction, especially when utilizing its telephoto lens in low light.
- Night Mode Effectiveness: While the Honor 200 Pro’s night mode can brighten images, it may introduce noise and doesn’t always result in a significant improvement in overall image quality.
Portrait Mode – Does the Honor 200 Pro prevail?
- Front-Facing Camera: The Honor 200 Pro surprisingly outperforms the iPhone 16 Pro Max in front-facing portraits at night, producing cleaner edges and more pleasing colors. But at day the iPhone 16 Pro Max creates great selfies too.
- Rear-Facing Camera: The Honor 200 Pro offers three portrait styles, which were created in cooperation with the famous frech photostudio Harcourt. The Harcourt vibrant, colour and classic mode differ in color, vibrancy and contrast. Overall the Honor does take the superior portraits in my eyes.
Video Recording
- Front-Facing Camera: The iPhone 16 Pro Max delivers significantly better video quality with its front-facing camera.
- Rear-Facing Camera: Both phones record high-quality video, but the iPhone 16 Pro Max offers smoother stabilization and a more versatile zoom range.
- Low-Light Video Mode: The Honor 200 Pro’s night video mode suffers from the “jelly effect” and does not significantly enhance video quality in low-light conditions.
Conclusion
The iPhone 16 Pro Max remains the overall winner in this camera comparison, offering consistent color reproduction, a very good low-light performance, and superior video capabilities. However, the Honor 200 Pro demonstrates impressive camera performance for its price point, particularly in daylight, ultrawide photography and for portraits. It’s a strong contender for users seeking flagship-level camera features without the associated cost.
Check out the Honor vs Galaxy S24 FE
Can a mid-range phone truly compete with a flagship when it comes to photography? I put the Xiaomi 14T Pro (around €660) head-to-head with the iPhone 16 Pro Max (around €1500) to find out if you really get what you pay for. Spoiler alert: the results were closer than you might think!
Daylight Photography
- Color Rendition: The Xiaomi tends to boost colors, creating vibrant images, while the iPhone leans towards a more natural look. This difference is particularly noticeable when comparing shots taken with different lenses on the Xiaomi.
- Zoom Performance: The Xiaomi’s 2.6x telephoto lens, while not as powerful as the iPhone’s 5x optical zoom, holds its own even at 5x digital and 10x digital at times.
- Ultrawide Quality: Both phones deliver excellent ultrawide shots, but the Xiaomi surprisingly produces better overall image quality in some scenarios.
Low-Light Photography
- Overall Performance: The iPhone has a hard time with the ultra-wide lens, capturing generally darker images. The Xiaomi’s dedicated night mode helps it achieve brighter shots in challenging conditions.
- Noise Handling: The iPhone produces images with more noise particularly when using the telephoto lens in low light.
- Night Mode Comparison: While the Xiaomi’s night mode can brighten images, it sometimes introduces noise and doesn’t always result in a significant improvement.
Portrait Mode
- Front-Facing Camera: The Xiaomi surprisingly outperforms the iPhone in front-facing portraits, delivering cleaner edges and more pleasing colors.
- Rear-Facing Camera: The Xiaomi offers various portrait styles, including the unique “Leica” and “Master Portrait” modes. However, the iPhone’s standard portrait mode produces more natural background blur and better overall image quality, especially with the telephoto lens.
Video Recording
- Front-Facing Camera: The iPhone delivers significantly better video quality with its front-facing camera.
- Rear-Facing Camera: Both phones record high-quality video, but the iPhone offers smoother stabilization and a more versatile zoom range.
- Low-Light Video: The Xiaomi’s dedicated night video mode struggles in extremely low light, producing a blurry and noisy mess.
Action Mode, Stabilization and Video Zoom
- Action Mode: Both phones offer stabilization modes (Action Mode on iPhone, Steady Video Pro on Xiaomi). The iPhone’s Action Mode allows for different resolutions and lens options, while the Xiaomi is limited to 1080p with the ultrawide lens.
- Zoom While Filming: The Xiaomi allows for good zoom transitions up to 15x while filming, while the iPhone offers and even smoother experience.
Night Mode Video
- Dedicated Night Mode: The Xiaomi features a dedicated night mode for video recording, unlike the iPhone.
- Performance: While the Xiaomi’s night mode can brighten footage, it also introduces noise and struggles with highlights. The iPhone generally produces cleaner low-light video.
Conclusion
The iPhone 16 Pro Max ultimately delivers an overall superior camera experience. However, the Xiaomi 14T Pro offers impressive performance for its price, especially in daylight and ultrawide photography. It’s a compelling option for budget-conscious users who prioritize camera quality.

iPhone 16 Pro Max vs Honor 200 Pro
In the realm of smartphones, the camera is often a pivotal feature that influences purchasing decisions. Today, we delve into a detailed comparison between two high-end devices: the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Honor Magic6 Pro. Both phones boast impressive camera specifications, but how do they perform in real-world scenarios? This article will dissect their performance across various lighting conditions, zoom capabilities, and more, providing a thorough overview for potential buyers and tech enthusiasts alike.
Daytime Video Performance
The camera comparison begins with daytime video recording, where both devices were tested in bright, sunny conditions. The iPhone 15 Pro Max captures video at 4K resolution and 30 frames per second using its front-facing camera. In contrast, the Honor Magic6 Pro also records in 4K but shows some challenges when exposed to direct sunlight. The Magic6 Pro struggles with overexposure, particularly when the sun is behind the subject, while the iPhone maintains a more balanced exposure.
As we transition to recording with the main lenses at 4K 60 frames per second, both phones exhibit their zooming capabilities. The iPhone offers smooth transitions between lens options, showcasing its versatility. The Magic6 Pro, while equipped with a noise reduction feature, has noticeable difficulties in managing surrounding sounds during recording, which can impact the overall audio quality.
Zoom Capabilities
Zoom functionality is a critical aspect for many photographers and videographers. The iPhone 15 Pro Max features a maximum zoom of 25x, while the Honor Magic6 Pro claims an impressive 100x zoom capability. However, this comparison reveals that while the Honor can achieve greater zoom levels, the quality of the images can vary significantly.
At 5x zoom, both devices deliver commendable results, but the iPhone’s images tend to retain more detail and color accuracy. The Honor Magic6 Pro’s colors often appear overly saturated, which can detract from the realism of the photos. This inconsistency can be particularly evident when switching between lenses, where the color saturation can fluctuate dramatically.
Macro Photography
Macro photography allows users to capture intricate details up close, and the Honor Magic6 Pro excels in this area with its dedicated macro mode. While the iPhone activates macro mode automatically, the results are still impressive. In direct comparison, the Honor produces sharper and more vivid macro images, showcasing its strength in this specific category.
Vibrant vs. Natural Mode
Both smartphones offer different color profiles for photo capture. The Honor Magic6 Pro defaults to a vibrant mode, while the iPhone tends to provide a more natural representation of colors. Users seeking vividness may prefer the Honor’s vibrant mode, but this can sometimes lead to unrealistic color portrayals. In contrast, the iPhone’s natural mode often results in images that are more true to life, which may appeal to those looking for authenticity in their photography.
Selfies and Portrait Mode
Selfies are an essential feature for many users, and both devices offer solid performance. The iPhone 15 Pro Max showcases more accurate skin tones and better separation from the background in portrait mode. The Honor Magic6 Pro, while capable, sometimes struggles with details, such as hair strands, leading to less effective background blurring.
When taking selfies in bright sunlight, the iPhone again proves its prowess, maintaining color accuracy while the Honor tends to oversaturate the greens and blues. This trend continues in portrait mode, where the iPhone’s ability to manage background blur outshines the competition.
Video Zoom and Lens Switching
Video capabilities extend beyond still photography, and both phones allow for zooming while recording. The iPhone seamlessly transitions between its various zoom levels, providing a smooth viewing experience. The Honor, on the other hand, exhibits noticeable color shifts when switching lenses, which can affect the overall quality of the video.
Nighttime Video Performance
As the sun sets, the performance of these devices is put to the test in low-light conditions. The iPhone 15 Pro Max continues to outperform the Magic6 Pro, with better dynamic range and color reproduction. The Honor Magic6 Pro, particularly when using its night mode, can appear washed out and struggles to illuminate the subject effectively.
In nighttime video recordings, the iPhone captures more detail and retains a natural look, whereas the Honor tends to produce brighter images that lack depth. This difference is crucial for users who often shoot in low-light environments.
Night Mode vs. Auto Mode
Both smartphones offer night mode capabilities, but the effectiveness can vary. The iPhone automatically decides whether to engage night mode based on ambient light, while the Honor allows users to toggle it on or off. In several scenarios, the iPhone’s auto mode often yields better results than the Honor’s night mode, particularly in terms of detail retention and color accuracy.
Low Light Photography
When comparing low-light photography, the iPhone 15 Pro Max consistently delivers brighter and more detailed images. The Honor Magic6 Pro may produce images that appear brighter due to its night mode, but they often lack the clarity and depth that the iPhone captures. This discrepancy is particularly noticeable when zooming in on subjects; the iPhone’s 5x telephoto lens outperforms the Honor’s optical lens in many instances.
Conclusion: Which Phone Reigns Supreme?
After a thorough examination of both devices, it is clear that the iPhone 15 Pro Max holds the upper hand in several key areas. While the Honor Magic6 Pro offers impressive specifications, including a higher zoom capability and dedicated macro mode, it struggles with color consistency and low-light performance. The iPhone, with its natural color representation and superior handling of various lighting conditions, ultimately provides a more reliable camera experience.
For those prioritizing vibrant images for social media, the Honor may appeal, but for users seeking authenticity and detail, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the clear winner. As technology evolves, it will be interesting to see how future updates from Honor address these camera performance issues. Until then, the choice between these two flagship devices will likely depend on individual preferences and photography needs.
Camera Battle: Sony Xperia 1 Mark 5 vs. Huawei P60 Pro
Smartphone camera technology has come a long way, and today we’re diving into a camera comparison between two powerful contenders: the Sony Xperia 1V and the Huawei P60 Pro. In a world where content creation and photography play a pivotal role, these devices are eying for the spotlight. Let’s explore how they stack up in terms of design, features, and image quality. I mostly will use the default apps, so I will not go in deeper about the pro apps of the Xperia 1V.
Design Evolution
Sony’s Xperia 1V maintains a design language that has stood the test of time, reminiscent of their earlier models. On the other hand, Huawei is constantly evolving, especially when it comes to its camera design. It’s fascinating to witness the contrast between Sony’s timeless approach and Huawei’s innovative iterations.
Vlogging Accessories
Sony takes vlogging seriously by offering additional accessories to enhance your content creation experience. An external monitor and Grip, like the Sony GP VPT 2BT, can complement your vlogging setup, allowing you to capture shots from various angles effortlessly. However, bear in mind that these accessories come at an extra cost of around 300 Euros, which is worth considering if you’re aiming for a more professional touch.
Macro Photography and Zoom Abilities
For those fascinated by the micro world, macro photography matters. The Huawei P60 Pro shines in this aspect, rendering detailed and captivating macro shots. Zoom capabilities are also tested. The devices go head-to-head at different zoom levels, and it’s clear that the P60 Pro outperforms its counterpart in terms of detail and clarity.
Night Mode and Selfie Portraits
Low-light photography is a crucial test for any smartphone camera. Both phones are put to the test in nighttime scenarios, and the Huawei P60 Pro emerges as the victor, capturing more details and brightening shadows effectively. Selfie portrait mode is also examined, revealing a balanced separation of subjects from backgrounds on both devices.
Final Verdict
In this camera showdown, the Sony Xperia 1V and Huawei P60 Pro each bring their strengths to the table. Sony’s classic design and vlogging accessories offer a unique edge, while Huawei’s camera innovations shine in various aspects, from macro photography to night mode. The decision ultimately hinges on personal preferences and the specific features that align with your content creation needs.
A camera comparison like no other
Hello dear tech enthusiast and welcome to my camera comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Honor Magic 5 Pro. But this won’t be your average camera comparison. Follow me on a journey from Germany to Pakistan, where I put both devices in different scenarios to the test.
From Bremerhaven to Dubai
My journey started in Bremerhaven. I took the train to Hamburg to catch my flight with Emirates to Dubai. In the air I got some snaps and watched a movie while rather not enjoying the on-flight meal. My arrival in Dubai brought a 5 hours layover with it and I took the chance to take a few more pictures with the Magic 5 Pro and the S23 Ultra.
Honor Magic 5 Pro vs S23 Ultra in Pakistan!
After arriving in Faisalabad and resting in a hotel, it was time for me to participate in a wedding. The coming days were filled with wedding-related stuff, but I took both phones to the test whenever I had the chance.
A personal highlight was my trip through the bazar at the clock tower of Faisalabad, one of the most popular areas of the city. I was able to capture some good comparison material here and later that night, I took the phones outside for a low-light comparison.
It was a short but memorable trip. I hope this video was enjoyable for all of you. Make sure to check my other camera comparison out, for example the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs the Huawei Mate 50 Pro.

In today’s smartphone landscape, the quality of the camera plays an important role in determining which device to choose. In this article, we will conduct a comparison of the camera capabilities of two flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Both shining at day
When it comes to capturing photos in daylight, both the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra demonstrate remarkable capabilities. The Xiaomi is producing stunning portrait shots, offering accurate subject separation and pleasing background blur in the majority of cases. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra showcases its superiority in the realm of zoom photography, enabling users to capture intricate details from a distance without compromising too much of the image quality.
Very close at night
At night both phones have areas where they outperform their competitor. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is doing a great job with the ultrawide, even though it oversaturates the colors quite often. Portraits are lacking clarity on the Xiaomi at night. Samsung is also again doing a better job while zooming. Using the night mode while zooming, Xiaomi can’t even use the 10x zoom and is limited to 3.5x.
Video
The Galaxy S23 Ultra has done a big step when it comes to video this year, but the Xiaomi 13 Pro isn’t that far behind. Both phones offering the option to record to up to 8K with 24 fps on the Xiaomi and 30 fps on the Samsung. When it comes to the front facing camera, Xiaomi suprisingly just offers a resolution of 1080p, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra can do 4K (both with up to 60 fps). At this price point, 4K should be the norm.
