Xiaomi 13 Pro vs Galaxy S23 Ultra: A windy camera comparison

In today’s smartphone landscape, the quality of the camera plays an important role in determining which device to choose. In this article, we will conduct a comparison of the camera capabilities of two flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Both shining at day

When it comes to capturing photos in daylight, both the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra demonstrate remarkable capabilities. The Xiaomi is producing stunning portrait shots, offering accurate subject separation and pleasing background blur in the majority of cases. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra showcases its superiority in the realm of zoom photography, enabling users to capture intricate details from a distance without compromising too much of the image quality.

Very close at night

At night both phones have areas where they outperform their competitor. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is doing a great job with the ultrawide, even though it oversaturates the colors quite often. Portraits are lacking clarity on the Xiaomi at night. Samsung is also again doing a better job while zooming. Using the night mode while zooming, Xiaomi can’t even use the 10x zoom and is limited to 3.5x.

Video

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has done a big step when it comes to video this year, but the Xiaomi 13 Pro isn’t that far behind. Both phones offering the option to record to up to 8K with 24 fps on the Xiaomi and 30 fps on the Samsung. When it comes to the front facing camera, Xiaomi suprisingly just offers a resolution of 1080p, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra can do 4K (both with up to 60 fps). At this price point, 4K should be the norm.
